Two Days
It may appear I haven't been working the last couple of days, but such is not the case. After my hiatus, I discovered I'd lost touch with my story, so I reread the whole thing to get back on track. Nearly 60,000 words takes a while to get through.
Also, I realized I'd written to the end of my early plot outline rather faster than I expected, and was just blundering along without even the vaguest of destination ideas. Although I like to leave my plots open, that was perhaps too open, and I was having trouble getting anywhere. So, I also wrote nearly 1,000 words of character sketches, vague plot outline, and over-arching themes. And now I believe I really am back on track.

Well, obviously, I hit a wall here, though I assure you it was of the Life variety, and my hiatus had more to do with Outside Events than personal failure. My circumstances have more or less righted themselves, however, and I hope to pick up where I left off without losing any more momentum.

Before this morning and orchestrating my new "write at least 1,000 words a day" mission, my new novel (Stem is the working title) was 6,063 word long.

Staring Over
So, I'm at it again. The Teardrop Game is Reasonably Finished and I'm in the edit and find an agent process, so I figure it's time to get a move on with something new.
I've had the Idea for Novel Two rattling around in my head for quite a while and actually tried a few different starts that got stuck within a few thousands words. However, I simplified the world and found a new angle and now I do believe I'm up and running.
But I'm going to take things a little differently this time. I'm not going to post my day by day work on the blog, but I am going to post a word-count and use my handy dandy thermometer graphic to keep track of my length. I think I'm going to keep the goal at 100,000 words, with the intent to go a bit over.
And now we'll see how it goes.
